The Sword is one of those “normal person gets powers from magical artifact” story (though it’s a lot more than that too and I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t read it yet), and Jonathan Luna made her look like someone you could meet on the street instead of an air-brushed model, lending more weight and reality to an otherwise fantastical story.
And apparently enough people wanted to read it to justify an oversized slip-covered hardcover omnibus!
